Organizations must prioritize data security and ensure that employees working remotely understand how to prevent data breaches.

BTL presents essential cybersecurity tips for safe WFH:

  • Avoid sharing work computers or devices with family members or others to prevent accidental deletion of important files or unintentional malware downloads that could lead to data theft.
  • Verify website security before entering sensitive information or downloading files. Always check that the website address starts with HTTPS://, as it indicates a more secure and trustworthy site.
  • Use strong passwords for logging into various systems. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and secure your Wi-Fi with a strong password to prevent unauthorized access to your network.
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi, as it is vulnerable to hackers who can steal passwords and sensitive data. If necessary, only use it for websites with HTTPS:// encryption.
  • Be cautious with phishing emails, social media tags, and suspicious SMS messages. Do not click on unknown links. Always verify the source of messages and ensure that the website you are visiting is the legitimate one.
  • Secure online meetings by setting up passwords for entry. Monitor participants by checking the attendee list and verifying identities.
  • Use a VPN to access your company’s server securely.
  • Keep your antivirus software updated on all devices.

Beyond these basic tips, companies should enforce strict cybersecurity policies that all employees must follow to protect the organization from cyber threats.
