The global sugar market is likely to be tight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

These measures from the world’s second-largest sugar exporter are likely to lead to higher global prices for both white and raw sugar, while also opening opportunities for competing exporters like Brazil and Thailand to expand their market share in Asia and Africa.<\/p>\n\n

Previously, India had allowed sugar mills to export a total of 1.59 million tons, based on the expectation that production would exceed domestic consumption.<\/p>\n\n

However, recent assessments suggest that production capacity may remain below domestic demand for the second consecutive year, following a decline in sugarcane production in key growing areas.<\/p>\n\n

El Ni\u00f1o increases the risk to crop yields.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Meanwhile, the risk of El Ni\u00f1o conditions affecting this year’s monsoon season is adding pressure on sugar production in the next season.<\/p>\n\n

The export situation has been affected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Data from traders indicates that out of a total export quota of 1.59 million tons, approximately 800,000 tons have been contracted for export, and more than 600,000 tons have already been delivered.<\/p>\n\n

The latest measures will cover both raw and refined sugar, but will still allow some exports to continue if they are in the transportation process before the announcement comes into effect, such as loading goods onto ships, submitting export documents, or if the ship has already arrived at the port under specified conditions.<\/p>\n\n

International traders believe that the increase in export quotas earlier this year caused many companies to rush into forward contracts, resulting in this export suspension putting pressure on businesses to fulfill their original agreements.<\/p>\n\n

World sugar prices have continued to rise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Following the announcement, the price of raw sugar futures in New York rose by more than 2%, while the price of white sugar in the London market increased by about 3%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
