Protecting your organization from cyber threats for WFH during Covid-19

Cybersecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic that we have to face, in addition to the spread of the disease, for those who work from home, they tend to spend most of their day in front of the screen, which is connected to the internet for work.

Cyber Security

Companies and organizations should be aware of data security, so they should make employees who need to work from home understand how to prevent data leaks.

BTL would like to recommend some tips for WFH to stay away from cyber threats as follows:

  1. You should not use a computer or other devices for work with family members or other people because unexpected events may occur, such as accidentally deleting important files or downloading malware-laden files onto the device, which may result in data theft.
  2. Before entering any website that requires you to fill in important information or download a file, make sure to check the website address to be HTTPS:// because it is a more reliable website.
  3. Manage your login passwords to make them hard to guess. You may enable Two-Factor Authentication and set a Wi-Fi password that prevents other people from using the same network to reduce the risk of accessing information.
  4. Avoid using public Wi-Fi because it has security vulnerabilities that allow hackers to steal passwords or important information without our knowing. Or if you have to use it, use it only to access websites with https:// addresses.
  5. Beware of fraudulent emails or social media tags, as well as SMS. Consider carefully before opening and reading every time. Do not click on unknown links. Always check the source of the message first, including checking the website you are going to click on to see if it is the real website of the person you are going to use the service or not.
  6. In online meetings, there should be a code to enter the meeting to prevent unrelated persons from secretly joining. This is done by monitoring the number and checking the names of the participants every time.
  7. Use VPN to access the company server.
  8. Always update the Anti-Virus on your device.

In addition to these small tips, each company’s policies will be the most important part that all employees should strictly follow to protect the organization from cyber threats.
