Concerning the criteria for inspection, quarantine and veterinary hygiene for the export of frozen poultry meat and poultry parts from Thailand to China
For products, there has never been a signed protocol between the two countries. In the past, Thailand was only able to export honey. When the protocol is signed, products this time will be able to export products such as royal jelly and bee pollen for the first time. It is expected that the export value will be approximately 100 million baht per year.
As for the export of frozen poultry meat and poultry parts, a protocol was signed on August 24, 2018, in which Thailand can only export chicken meat, duck meat, chicken parts and chicken offal.
The amendment to the Protocol to expand the scope of the new draft agreement will allow the export of 18 additional duck parts and offal items, such as legs, wings, liver, gizzards, tongues and beaks, which are popularly consumed in the People’s Republic of China, and it is expected that:
There will be an additional export value of duck parts and offal of more than 1,000 million baht per year. In 2022, Thailand exported frozen poultry meat and poultry parts to the People’s Republic of China worth more than 13,000 million baht.
The Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development added that in the past, the Department of Livestock Development has coordinated and cooperated closely with the General Administration of Custom of People’s Republic of China (GACC).
In particular, setting trade terms between each other, supervising quality, and producing standards of livestock products to comply with international food safety standards and the requirements of trading partners.
The draft protocol and the draft agreement have been signed by both parties, confirming that the People’s Republic of China has confidence in the quality and safety standards of livestock products from Thailand.
This will expand the market and generate income for the country, which will result in the value of Thai livestock product exports expanding. Currently, the value of livestock and pet food exports to the People’s Republic of China is worth more than 15 billion baht per year.
