Bueng Thatluang Specific Economic Zone or Bueng Thatluang Special Economic Zone, which is said to be like the Dubai of ASEAN, is located in the heart of Vientiane with an investment value of over 1,600 million US dollars or approximately 54,000 million baht on a concession area of 365 hectares.

The concession period is 99 years. Construction began at the end of 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in 2030 under the cooperation of the Lao PDR. Laos and Shanghai Wanfeng Company of China

The project aims to create an economic zone with full facilities, a center for tourism, finance, trade, transportation and industry in ASEAN, while preserving the culture and society.

It contributes to improving the quality of life of the people in Vientiane Capital and creates a stable source of income for the state by linking the country’s economy to the international level.

Currently, the Lao government has set a strategy to make the country a land-link city to connect with other countries because Laos is a closed country with no sea access, but it still has areas connected to Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China.

In the construction and development of this special economic zone project , Bangkok Terminal Logistics Co., Ltd. or BTL has been assigned by a shipping partner company in China to have BTL participate as one of the cross-border cargo transporters, whose products originate from China.

By assigning BTL to be responsible for transporting a number of goods from Laem Chabang Port to Lao PDR, the goods being transported are Construction Materials & Furniture.

The development of the Bueng That Luang Special Economic Zone project, although there is not much progress news, Chinese investors and the Lao government are still developing the project continuously. It can be seen that there is still a constant transport of goods into the project.

In the future, will we see the ASEAN city of Dubai sooner or later? We will come back to update again.
