Ranong Port accelerates its development to become a gateway to Andaman trade, connecting BIMSTEC and South Asia. Ranong Port is moving forward with the development of its infrastructure and logistics services to elevate its role as a trade gateway on the Andaman Sea, linking the transportation of goods between Thailand, BIMSTEC countries, and the South Asian region, while also supporting key trade routes in the Indian Ocean.

Based on performance monitoring and port development plans, Ranong Port has the potential to become a logistics hub on the Andaman coast. Its strengths lie in its strategic location, which allows for direct connectivity between the Gulf of Thailand, the upper southern region, and key economic areas of the country, as well as shipping routes in the Indian Ocean.

Currently, Ranong Port has two main berths:

  • The multi-purpose pier is 134 meters long and can accommodate cargo ships up to 500 gross tons.
  • The container terminal is 150 meters long and can accommodate cargo ships of 8,000 gross tons or up to 12,000 deadweight tons.

In addition, there is a navigable channel that is 8 meters deep, 120 meters wide, and 28 kilometers long, equipped with comprehensive facilities including warehouses, container yards, truck parking areas, and cargo handling support equipment such as mobile harbor cranes, tractor trucks, forklifts, and temperature-controlled container service points.

The volume of service usage continues to grow.

The performance results during the first seven months of fiscal year 2026 (October 2025 – April 2026) reflect growth in the use of Ranong Port in all aspects compared to the same period of the previous year, with:

  • Container throughput at the port increased by 55.56% to 7,000 TEUs.
  • Cargo throughput at the port totaled 106,000 tons, an increase of 7.07%.
  • The number of boat trips totaled 217, an increase of 38.22%.

These figures reflect business confidence and the continuously increasing trend of international trade activity through the Andaman Sea.

Expand the cooperation network to the South Asian market.

Ranong Port continues to build cooperation with partner ports in Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka through cooperation frameworks in marketing and cargo route development. This aims to exchange information, promote trade, and open up new business opportunities for entrepreneurs.

This collaboration will enhance logistics options and support more efficient market connectivity within the BIMSTEC countries and the Indian Ocean region.

Heading toward becoming the logistics hub on the Andaman coast.

In the next phase, there are plans to increase the number and efficiency of work tools, as well as upgrade service and safety standards, to accommodate the projected future growth in product volume.

Continuous development will enhance Ranong Port’s potential as one of Thailand’s key strategic hubs for trade and logistics on the Andaman Sea coast, effectively supporting the expansion of international trade in South Asia and the BIMSTEC network.
