During the first two months, Thailand's control of rubber transit has begun to progress concretely. A system has been established to inspect and certify the type and category of rubber being transported through the Kingdom, ensuring that transportation adheres to established criteria, is standardized, transparent, and traceable.
Under these measures, clear procedures for verification, processing time, service application submission, and certification issuance have been established to ensure uniformity in operations, reduce errors, and enhance the efficiency of oversight.
Following the implementation of the measures from November 1, 2025, to January 12, 2026, a total of 32 businesses have registered to pay for rubber inspection and certification services for rubber being transported through the Kingdom. At the Ranong border checkpoint, approximately 284,000 kilograms of rubber were inspected and certified, with a service fee of 0.50 baht per kilogram, totaling over 142,000 baht. Meanwhile, the Mae Sot border checkpoint in Tak province remained closed during this period.
The measures for certifying rubber smuggling through border crossings, including the designation of controlled rubber movement zones, are seen as a new mechanism to reduce loopholes in smuggling and increase transparency from origin to destination. Rubber smuggled through border crossings must be transported out of Thailand in container trucks equipped with GPS tracking systems within 72 hours of inspection and container sealing.
Before goods are exported, the container seals are inspected and X-rayed again to confirm the authenticity of the goods. This enhances confidence in regulatory oversight and elevates the standards of cross-border rubber transportation in the long term.
