We’re off! The first Shanghai-Europe railway

Shanghai Railway launched the China-Europe freight train service on September 28, 2021, departing for Hamburg, Germany.

The freight train service, called Shanghai Express, will carry 50 containers of various goods, including clothing, auto parts, solar panels, tableware, furniture, daily necessities, machinery parts and more, traveling a distance of 10,000 kilometers.

It is headed to Germany in two weeks from its origin at the Alasankou Port in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Poland.

More trains will be added in the future. The China-Europe railway will help strengthen the relationship between China, Germany, Europe and other countries along the route, facilitating economic and trade exchanges.
